Catherine Ann Clayton, MD, FAAD
The founder of Clayton Dermatology Group, Dr. Clayton has cared for patients in Plant City since 1987. A local favorite, she has treated generations of central Florida families and is respected by all for her expertise. Dr. Clayton completed her residency in dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan from 1979-1982 following medical internship at The University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii. She received her medical degree in 1977 from the University of Michigan, and her Bachelor’s degree in Physiology from Michigan State University.
Dr. Clayton is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Clayton enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, tennis and golf.
Erica Smithberger, MD, FAAD
Dr. Smithberger earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of South Florida in 2005, where she subsequently completed residency training in Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery, serving as chief clinical resident. She is board-certified in both Dermatology & Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery (Mohs) by the American Board of Dermatology. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Smithberger received her Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude from the USF Honors Program, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Spanish.
Dr. Smithberger joined Clayton Dermatology Group in 2009. She accepts patients of all ages with a wide range of skin disease, and has a special interest in surgical management of skin cancers and non-invasive cosmetic procedures. She has developed a reputation for a gentle and very natural-appearing approach to facial rejuvenation.
A native of Tampa, Dr Smithberger is married to her high-school sweetheart and they have four children. She enjoys the theater, art projects, traveling, and spending time with her family & friends. Dr. Smithberger volunteers her time locally and internationally with Hope & Health Project.
L. Kevin Heard, MD
Dr. Heard was born and raised in Georgia, where he attended the University of Georgia Honors Program prior to earning his Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. During medical school he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical society, graduating at the top of his class. He completed his residency training in Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery at the University of South Florida, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Heard is board-certified in both Dermatology & Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery (Mohs) by the American Board of Dermatology. He practices medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Heard accepts patients of all ages.
Dr. Heard is married with one child and they are welcoming their second child this summer. He enjoys traveling, golfing, playing tennis, and spending time with family, including his two dogs.
