Botox® & fillers:

Onabotulinum toxin and fillers are cosmetic treatments used to minimize the look of wrinkles, and create a more youthful appearance. Although they are both administered through injections, they work in different ways. Botox® relaxes the small muscles in the face that cause wrinkle lines (i.e. between the eyebrows, frown lines, etc.). The effects of Botox® last for three to four months. Fillers are used to add fullness and volume to areas of the skin that have lost volume as a result of aging. These are usually injected into the cheeks, lips, temples. The effects of fillers vary depending on the area treated and the substance used, but the effects can remain from four months to two years. Clayton Dermatology Group consults with each patient to determine the best treatment or combination of treatments to address the effects of aging on the skin.

Microneedling:

Microneedling is a skin-rejuvenating procedure that utilizes fine needles to puncture the skin and promote an increase in collagen and new skin tissue. It can be used to treat fine lines, brown spots, stretch marks, and hair loss. The results of the procedure is to achieve smoother, firmer and more even-toned skin. It is primarily used on the face and may treat scars, including acne scars, as well. Microneedling works by causing very small pinpricks to the skin, which responds by making new collagen-rich tissue. Clayton Dermatology Group uses a topical anesthetic prior to the procedure in order to provide a comfortable procedure. Treatments are done in sets of 3, 1 month apart.

Sclerotherapy for spider veins:

Sclerotherapy is a treatment for spider veins. The procedure involves injecting a saline solution directly into the unsightly vein. The solution irritates the walls of the vein and causes it to collapse upon itself and scar. Eventually the collapsed vein is reabsorbed into local tissue and fades. Often results are seen within a few weeks, but it may take a month or more to see full results from the procedure. Schedule a consult at Clayton Dermatology Group to determine if sclerotherapy is right for your veins.
